Isometric Texture Mapping for Free-Form Surfaces

چکیده
texture mapping, . . Image warpmg, isometries, distance preserving, developable surfaces Texture mapping is a frequently exploited technique in computer graphics aimed at the emulation of high-resolution details in surfaces. In this paper we present a distance-ratios preservation method for bivariate raster texture mapping to free-form surfaces in an arbitrarily precise manner. The proposed method reduces the original general problem of computing the inverse of a three-dimensional parametric surface mapping into a problem of two-dimensional image warping. Several examples that demonstrate the proposed approach are also provided.

A Technique for Constructing Developable Surfaces
Paper, sheet metal, and many other materials are approximately unstretchable. The surfaces obtained by bending these materials can be flattened onto a plane without stretching or tearing. More precisely, there exists a transformation that maps the surface onto the plane, after which the length of any curve drawn on the surface remains the same. Such surfaces, when sufficiently regular, are well ...
متن کاملGeodesic Flow on Polyhedral Surfaces
On a curved surface the front of a point wave evolves in concentric circles which start to overlap and branch after a certain time. This evolution is described by the geodesic ow and helps us to understand the geometry of surfaces. In this paper we compute the evolution of distance circles on polyhedral surfaces and develop a method to visualize the set of circles, their overlapping, branching,...
متن کاملVisualization of 3D clouds using free forms
At the present work the method of fast rendering the translucent objects formed by free form surfaces is offered. For the majority flight simulators or car simulators atmospheric effects are realized in the manner of 2D texture (clouds) or simply resulting colour in the pixel is blended with some weight, which depends on the coordinate Z with the white colour (fog). In given work realization of...
متن کاملFacetoface: An Isometric Model for Facial Animation
A geometric framework for finding intrinsic correspondence between animated 3D faces is presented. We model facial expressions as isometries of the facial surface and find the correspondence between two faces as the minimum-distortion mapping. Generalized multidimensional scaling is used for this goal. We apply our approach to texture mapping onto 3D video, expression exaggeration and morphing ...
متن کاملParametrization for Surfaces with Arbitrary Topologies
Surface parametrization is a fundamental problem in computer graphics. It is essential for operations such as texture mapping, texture synthesis, interactive 3D painting, remeshing, multi-resolution analysis and mesh compression. Conformal parameterization, which preserves angles, has many nice properties such as having no local distortion on textures, and being independent of triangulation or ...
